Midterm Exams

Where do I take exams?

Summer 2026 exams are proctored online through ProctorU. I’m still waiting for the exact details; I’ll post here when I find out.

How long do I have to take each exam?

Each midterm is timed. They are designed to be done within 50 minutes.

How do I sign up for a time slot?

TBA

Retakes

How does the retake work?

For each of the three midterms, you can elect to retake mastery areas during the Final Exam window (August 6–7). The retake gives you a second chance at any mastery area from any midterm. If your retake score improves on the original, we take the new score. If it does not, we take the original.

If I’m happy with my midterm score, can I skip the retake?

Yes.

If I redo a mastery area and do worse, does that affect my grade?

No. Your score for a mastery area never goes down due to a retake.

Will I get the same exam?

All the questions on the exam are randomly selected from a pool of questions. You might get lucky and get a repeat, but most likely you are going to see a related but different question.

Can I redo all of the exams?

Yes. You can sign up for retakes for any mastery areas from any of the three midterms.

Can I do all my retakes in one session?

Yes — the final window is structured so you can take retakes for multiple midterms during the same window. Plan your time accordingly.

Missed Exams

What if I miss my exam?

Email Mattox Beckman as soon as possible. If there is a legitimate reason (covered by the student code), we will usually be able to make arrangements.

What if I made a ProctorU reservation but can’t make it?

Please cancel through ProctorU so the slot opens up for another student. Then email if you need help rescheduling.
